Group facilitation
In addition to working with people on a 1-to-1 basis I also feel passionately about facilitating groups of people.
Recently I facilitated a Self-Esteem course for the As You Are Centre in conjunction with the Job Centre. These were 6 week courses of 2 hour sessions and based on the qualitative and quantitative feedback received they were very successful. It looks likely these courses will receive repeat funding based on their success.
I have also recently co-facilitated an Introduction to Non-violent Communication and an Introduction to Sociocracy for local community group Sussex Cohousing. I am also a regular facilitator of sociocratic-style meetings and processes for Sussex Cohousing. Sociocracy is a refreshingly collaborative governance method based on self-organization, distributed authority, and inclusive decision-making. It implements democracy without majority rule and better ensures freedom and equality. My role can be to facilitate a day-long meeting or to lead a creative or decision making group process within a meeting.
