Portrait of Rich Taylor, person-centred counsellor and counselling tutor

I work with a sliding scale of £50–£100.

People’s financial situations vary widely. At this stage of my career I offer a sliding scale in response to this. It's not perfect, but it does mean that people across a wider range of circumstances can benefit from this important human-to-human process with an experienced practitioner.

Like many things, counselling is a way to spend movey on yourself. Unlike many things, it is one that can make a meaningful difference or even be genuinely life changing. In terms of what we 'invest' in, I attest to its real potential for value.

I trust you to choose a fee within this range that reflects your circumstances and what feels right for you. There’s no need to explain or justify your choice.

I offer a very rough guide, below, for choosing a fee. It's overly blunt and probably doesn't reflect those with the most or least financial security in society. Nor does it cover complexity of financial situations. With that said, I share it in incase you find it helpful:

£85–£100+ – for those who have relatively strong financial security, solid savings, assets or relatively high disposable income

£70–£85 – for those who are generally financially comfortable, have some savings/asset(s), maybe alonside key competing demands

£60–£70 – for those with tighter budgets, medium disposable income, less financial stability, or a limited financial cushion

£50* – a limited number of concession spaces, for those under financial strain, low income

Joining people in what are sometimes their darkest times or experiences of life is an honour for me. My hope is that we can meet and honour that which is meaningful for you.

*If my concession fee isn’t affordable for you, I can understand. You may find the As You Are low-cost counselling service helpful. I worked there as a trainee and volunteered for several years once qualified, and they offer important access for those with the least amount of financial freedom.
